The short answer
SEO for Walmart suppliers comes down to being found in three places: Walmart.com search, Google, and AI shopping tools like Walmart's Sparky, ChatGPT and Gemini.
In 2026 the suppliers who win have complete item content on Walmart.com, a brand website that answers shopper questions, and the same product facts everywhere. Ads help, but the product page still has to make the sale.
Bentonville by the numbers
| Fact | Number | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart suppliers with a presence in Northwest Arkansas | More than 1,300 | Arkansas Economic Development Commission |
| Walmart global ad business, fiscal year ended January 2026 | Nearly $6.4 billion, up 46% | Walmart Q4 FY26 earnings |
| Walmart Connect U.S. ad growth, quarter reported August 20, 2026 | 43% | Walmart Q2 FY27 earnings |
| Walmart U.S. eCommerce growth, same quarter | 24% | Walmart Q2 FY27 earnings |
| Walmart U.S. marketplace net sales growth, same quarter | More than 50% | Walmart Q2 FY27 earnings |
| Extra U.S.-made products Walmart plans to buy by January 2031 | $350 billion | Walmart Open Call 2026 |
Most of those supplier offices sit within 30 miles of Walmart's Home Office in Bentonville, spread across Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville. Some are big teams from global consumer goods companies. Others are one or two people who manage a single brand's Walmart business.
Around them is a second layer of companies that serve the suppliers: agencies, data and analytics firms, brokers, packaging and merchandising companies. Back in 2018, a local recruiter counted more than 400 of these "vendors to the vendors" and called them the fastest-growing part of Bentonville.
Who works in Vendorville
Locals call the supplier community Vendorville. Each type of business in it needs a different search plan.
| Business | Who they need to reach | What to build |
|---|---|---|
| National brands with a Bentonville team | Shoppers and Walmart merchants | Complete Walmart item content, a brand site that owns every brand and product search |
| Growing brands trying to get on shelf | Walmart and Sam's Club buyers, then shoppers | Product pages with proof of demand, Made in USA details if true, a retail partners page |
| Marketplace sellers | Walmart.com shoppers | Strong listings, reviews, fast shipping, sponsored search |
| Service firms that help suppliers | Supplier teams in Northwest Arkansas | Service pages, case studies, a local Google Business Profile |
What changed in 2026
Retail media got bigger, and more expensive
Walmart Connect is Walmart's advertising business. Brands pay it to show up higher on Walmart.com and in the Walmart app. It grew 41% in the last quarter of fiscal 2026, 44% in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and 43% in the second quarter. Walmart's CFO has said advertising and membership now make up about a third of the company's profit.
What that means for suppliers: more brands are bidding for the same spots. Ads can bring a shopper to your product. The item page still has to convince them to buy.
AI shopping assistants arrived
Walmart launched its AI shopping assistant, Sparky, in June 2025. In January 2026, Walmart and Google announced a shopping experience inside Google's Gemini. In March 2026, Walmart ended its test of buying directly inside ChatGPT, after it found purchases made inside ChatGPT converted at one third the rate of those sent to Walmart's own site. It is now putting Sparky inside ChatGPT and Gemini instead.
What that means for suppliers: a shopper may never type your product name. They ask a question, and the AI tool picks products that match. It can only match what your item content actually says.
The marketplace is growing fast
Walmart's U.S. marketplace sales grew more than 50% in the quarter reported in August 2026. More third-party sellers now show up in the same search results as brands that sell direct to Walmart. Your listing competes with theirs.
The Made in USA push continues
Walmart has committed to buy an extra $350 billion in products made, grown or assembled in the U.S. by January 2031. By the end of fiscal 2026 it had made $256 billion of those extra purchases. Its yearly Open Call event, held at the Home Office in Bentonville in early October 2026, gives selected businesses 30-minute pitch meetings with Walmart and Sam's Club merchants.
If you pitch a buyer, they will look you up. A website that clearly backs up your Made in USA claim, your sales and your reviews helps.
Three places your products need to show up
1. Walmart.com search
- Clear titles. Brand, product type, the main feature, then size or count. Write for the shopper, not for a spreadsheet.
- Every attribute filled in. Filters on Walmart.com, and AI tools like Sparky, lean on attributes such as size, color, material, flavor and age range. Blank fields mean missed matches.
- Good images and real descriptions. Show the product in use. Answer the questions shoppers ask in reviews.
- Reviews and stock. Out-of-stock items and thin reviews lose ground fast.
- Listing quality checks. Walmart scores listing quality in Seller Center. Use it as a to-do list.
2. Google
Many shoppers check the brand's own site before they buy, even when they end up buying at Walmart. They want ingredients, sizes, instructions, warranties and comparisons. If your site does not answer those questions, a reseller, a review site or a competitor will. Sending a clean product feed to Google Merchant Center also gets your products into free Google Shopping listings. Our guide on why products do not show on Google Shopping covers the common problems.
3. AI answers
ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews pull from product listings, brand sites, reviews and articles. Tools like these do better with clear, consistent facts. If your product is called one thing on the box, another on Walmart.com and a third on your website, you are making them guess. See our guide to getting products into ChatGPT shopping for more.
What to build on your own website
- One page per product, using the same name, size and key facts as your Walmart.com listing.
- A where-to-buy page that links to your Walmart and Sam's Club listings, so people who find you on Google can still buy where you sell.
- Answer pages for the real questions people ask: how to use it, which size to pick, how it compares.
- A proof page with certifications, testing and Made in USA details, only if they are true. The FTC has rules on Made in USA claims.
- A retail partners and press page that buyers can see when they check you out.
- Fast pages that work well on phones.

For service firms in Bentonville and Rogers
If your customers are the suppliers themselves, your search plan is local and specific. Supplier teams search for the job they need done, often with the town name.
- Set up and complete your Google Business Profile for your Bentonville, Rogers or Springdale office.
- Build one page per service, named the way suppliers say it: replenishment, item setup, Retail Link reporting, Walmart Connect management, packaging design, and so on.
- Publish case studies with results your clients have approved.
- Show who is on your team and how long they have worked with Walmart programs. Trust matters in a small, tight community.
Common mistakes
- Launching an item and never updating the content again.
- Using different product names on the box, on Walmart.com and on your website.
- Relying only on ads to get seen.
- Having a brand site that never says where to buy.
- Making claims, like Made in USA, that you cannot back up.
