The short answer
OEM engineers do not search for your company name. They search for a process, a material and a spec. SEO for medical device suppliers means giving each of those searches a page: one page per capability, a clear quality page, and an easy way to send a drawing.
In Warsaw, that matters more in 2026. Big OEMs are changing, FDA's new quality rule is in force, and buyers are checking suppliers more closely before they ever call.
Why Warsaw is different
Warsaw is a small town with a big job. It calls itself the Orthopedic Capital of the World, and the numbers back it up.
- OrthoWorx, the local industry group, says Northeast Indiana represents about 50 percent of the global market for total joint replacements.
- The region has more than 100 medical device and technology companies.
- In 2022, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership estimated the orthopedic industry accounts for more than 22,000 jobs in the region.
- Zimmer Biomet alone has about 5,000 employees in the Warsaw area.
It started in 1895, when Revra DePuy began making splints in Warsaw. Zimmer followed in 1927 and Biomet in 1977. Each big company spun off people who started their own shops. Today, a large part of the local economy is made up of tier two and tier three suppliers: machine shops, finishing and coating houses, packagers, tool makers and testing labs.
Those suppliers are the focus of this guide. If that is you, most of your future customers already know Warsaw. What they do not know yet is you.
What is changing in 2026
Three changes are shaking up how OEMs pick suppliers right now.
DePuy Synthes is becoming its own company
In October 2025, Johnson and Johnson announced plans to separate its orthopedics business into a standalone company called DePuy Synthes, within 18 to 24 months. That business had about 9.2 billion dollars in sales in 2024. When a company that size splits off, supplier lists get reviewed. That can open doors for new suppliers, and it can put current ones at risk.
FDA's new quality rule is in force
On February 2, 2026, FDA's Quality Management System Regulation, or QMSR, replaced the old Quality System Regulation. It builds ISO 13485 into U.S. law. One practical effect: records such as internal audits, supplier audits and management reviews can now be reviewed by FDA inspectors. OEMs are paying closer attention to how they choose and check their suppliers.
Talent is tight
Indiana set aside 30 million dollars to help Warsaw attract and keep orthopedic talent. Local groups run countywide hiring fairs. For many shops, finding machinists and quality staff is as hard as finding customers.
All three changes point the same way. Buyers and job seekers are researching you online before they contact you. What they find, or do not find, shapes the first call.
How OEM buyers search for suppliers
A sourcing engineer with a new part does not type "Warsaw machine shop." They type what is on the drawing. For example:
- titanium implant machining
- Swiss turning cobalt chrome
- passivation of stainless surgical instruments
- laser marking for UDI
- anodizing for instrument cases
- cleanroom packaging for implants
They also ask AI tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews for a shortlist of suppliers. Those tools can only suggest companies whose websites clearly say what they do, for which materials, and to what standard.
Most supplier websites are built around the company, not the capability. There is an About page, a short list of services in one paragraph, and a contact form. That reads fine to a customer who already knows you. It is close to invisible to one who does not. We explain this gap in more detail on our SEO for manufacturers page.
What to put on your website
You do not need hundreds of pages. You need the right ten to twenty, each written for one kind of search.
| Page | What it covers | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| One page per process | Swiss turning, 5-axis milling, grinding, polishing, passivation, laser marking | Each process is its own search. One page per process can rank for it. |
| One page per material | Titanium, cobalt chrome, stainless, PEEK | Engineers often search the material first. |
| Quality page | ISO 13485 certificate, registrar, scope, inspection equipment, QMSR readiness | This is the first thing a supplier quality engineer looks for. |
| Equipment list | Machine models, axis counts, work envelopes | It answers "can they make my part?" without a call. |
| Products you support | Knees, hips, spine, trauma, instruments, cases | Shows experience without naming OEM customers. |
| Request a quote | Accepts drawings and 3D files, offers an NDA | Makes it easy to send real work. |
| Careers | Open roles, pay ranges, training, shifts | Helps you rank when people search for jobs in Kosciusko County. |
Write each page in plain words. Say what you do, the tolerances you hold, the materials you run, the volumes you handle and the certifications you have. Specific facts beat big claims every time.
Your quality page is now a sales page
Under QMSR, OEMs have more reason to document why they picked you. Make that easy. A strong quality page lists:
- Your ISO 13485 certificate number, registrar and scope, with a link to the certificate
- Your FDA establishment registration, if you have one
- Inspection and measuring equipment, such as CMMs and vision systems
- How you handle traceability, lot control and material certifications
- Cleanroom class, if you package or assemble
Keep it current. An expired certificate on your site does more harm than no certificate at all.
Local search, AI answers and trade shows
Google Business Profile. Set up a profile for each plant, with the right category, hours, photos of the shop floor and your capabilities in the description. Buyers visiting Warsaw and job seekers both use Google Maps.
AI answers. Keep your company name, address and capabilities the same on your website, LinkedIn and industry directories. Add Organization structured data to your site. AI tools trust facts they see repeated in more than one place.
OMTEC. The orthopedic industry's main supplier show, OMTEC, is held each June at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, just outside Chicago. The 2026 show had more than 215 exhibitors. Publish a show page before the event with your booth number and the capabilities you are featuring. Buyers search for exhibitors before and after the show.
Be careful with what you claim
- Do not name OEM customers without written permission. Describe the product type instead.
- Do not say your parts are "FDA approved." Devices are cleared or approved. Components usually are not.
- Do not publish patient claims. Your audience is engineers and buyers, not patients.
- Do not overstate capacity. Buyers will check.
A simple 90-day plan
- List every process, material and finish you offer. Each one is a possible page.
- Check which of those terms buyers actually search, even if the numbers look small.
- Rewrite your quality page first. It supports every other page.
- Publish your top five capability pages, each with real specs and photos.
- Fix your Google Business Profile and add Organization structured data.
- Add a quote form that accepts drawings and 3D files.
- Build a careers page with real roles and pay ranges.
- Track quote requests, not just traffic.
In a niche this narrow, 40 searches a month for the right term can be worth more than 4,000 for the wrong one. We wrote about that on our Indiana SEO page.
The bottom line on SEO for medical device suppliers
Warsaw's suppliers make parts that patients all over the world depend on. Most of them are still hard to find online. Clear capability pages, a strong quality page and an easy way to send a drawing are often enough to stand out, especially while OEMs review their supplier lists in 2026.

Questions and answers
Why is Warsaw, Indiana called the Orthopedic Capital of the World?
DePuy, Zimmer and Biomet all started there, and dozens of suppliers grew around them. OrthoWorx says Northeast Indiana represents about 50 percent of the global market for total joint replacements.
How do medical device suppliers get found on Google?
By publishing one clear page for each process, material and certification they offer. Engineers search for what is on the drawing, such as titanium machining or passivation, not for a company name.
Does FDA's QMSR affect suppliers?
QMSR took effect on February 2, 2026 and applies to device manufacturers. It makes supplier audit records available for FDA inspection, so OEMs are checking suppliers more closely. Suppliers should show their quality system clearly on their websites.
Can I list my OEM customers on my website?
Only with written permission. Most supply agreements are confidential. Describe the product types you support, such as knee components or instrument cases, instead.
How long does SEO take for a medical device supplier?
Capability pages in narrow niches often start ranking within a few months, because there is little strong competition. Building steady quote flow usually takes six to twelve months.
